- An allegedly corrupt detective accused of organising the execution of a whistleblower and his wife is penning a book he says will contain explosive new material about their murders.
Former detective Paul Dale is set to publish a book covering his career and the 2004 murders of Christine and Terence Hodson, a petty crook and drug dealer who turned informer.
The book has been written with crime writer Vikki Petraitis and is unofficially titles “Disgraced? You be the Judge. The Paul Dale Story”.
Dale said yesterday the book should give new details about the Hodson murders and be highly critical of how the investigation was handled.
Dale acknowledges he may have got too close to the Hodsons, but says police procedures at the time were to blame.
Dale was accused of offering $150,000 for Hodson to be killed, but the case was dumped in June 2010 after one of his accusers died.
Dale spent seven months on remand after being charged over the murders, and claims he was left traumatised by conditions inside the prison.
Dale wants to publish his memoirs next March, but said that date may be pushed back until August because of court proceedings and the possibility of an inquest into the Hodsons’ deaths.
The idea of the book has outraged the Hodson family.
