- A Newcomb man attacked by a car load of youths early on Saturday may lose sight in one eye.

Police are hunting the attackers who seriously assaulted two males in an unprovoked attack at East Geelong.

The victims, an 18-year-old from Highton and 19-year-old from Newcomb, suffered serious facial injuries after they were struck with bottles and a broomstick at about 3:50am.

The Highton man has been discharged from Geelong Hospital but the Newcomb victim remains in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Senior Constable Paul Michell said the attack was unprovoked and the offenders fled the scene in an early model maroon Holden Commodore. He believed the attack may have lasted for more than 10 minutes.

“The two victims were walking along Boundary Road in East Geelong when a vehicle has driven past them and a verbal exchange has taken place. The vehicle has stopped and three or four males got out and seriously assaulted the victims,” he said.

One alleged offender is described as in his late teens to early 20s, about 170cm, with black hair, blue shirt and jeans.

The second was a similar age, with a thin build, curly afro-like sandy brown hair, and wearing a black and red jumper.

The third, believed to be the driver, also of similar age and height, was wearing a yellow and black peaked cap. Police said the vehicle had a red P-plate displayed – Herald Sun
